Over the weekend we saw the first of our Club Challenge Round 2 events take place.

I had the pleasure of attending our newest NQ club event, Kinetic Barbell Club. With 15 new members, and a return of 4 previous members competing the event celebrated the participation development activities of Thunder Barbell and Kinetic Barbell Club in Townsville. 9 athletes used this competition to successfully qualify to compete at the Senior State Championships in Brisbane in August. Information from AWF regarding the removal of the mens 98kg class and the introduction of the mens 94kg category.
Please find below the updated events calendar including the minimum qualifying standards for the men’s 94kg and +94kg categories, commencing 1 June 2025.
Details of the QWA Qualifying standards for those same bodyweight categories will be circulated as soon as they are available.

To comply with ASC and Queensland Government gender equity requirements the unfilled positions will need to be filled by females. AAG Chair will need to be female and remaining Ordinary Member vacancy will need to be filled by a female. These appointments do not need to be made until the first meeting of the incoming committee, unless a suitable nomination is received from the floor at the AGM.
The QWA AGM will be held at Rebels Weightlifting Club Capalaba on 14th June 2025 @ 12.30pm.
