Effective management of representative teams contributes significantly to their overall performance. Team Managers are required to work in close cooperation with the QWA administration, coaches and athletes to ensure that the following duties are performed to a satisfactory degree. To achieve this, Team Managers are required to:

Liaise with the QWA Selection Committee during the team selection process

Coordinate the team’s travel itinerary and accommodation arrangements

Construct a data base of all team members containing a minimum amount of information on each member including:

Name

Address

Home telephone number

Mobile telephone number

Emergency contact details

Pre existing medical conditions

Use of prescribed medications

Special dietary requirements

Provide all team members with the following information prior to departure:

Team composition

Travel itinerary

Accommodation information

Competition information

Prior to the start of the competition, Team Managers should:

Convene a team meeting at an appropriate and convenient time and place

Liaise with Team Coaches to finalise the nomination of athletes prior to the competition Technical Meeting

Attend the competition Technical Meeting, verify the Queensland entries and obtain the final starting list

Provide Team Coaches with the starting list as soon as practicable after the Technical Meeting

Provide all team technical officials with the schedule of technical appointments

During the competition, Team Managers should:

Coordinate transport to and from the competition venue

Accompany athletes to weigh-in if requested by team coaches

Record or obtain competition results and progressively calculate team points

Calculate competitors’ Sinclair points for Best Lifter Awards and advise team coaches accordingly

After the competition, Team Managers should:
