Become a Weightlifter

Getting started is easy. 

Just contact your nearest Weightlifting Club to arrange your first training session. 

A qualified Weightlifting Coach will provide you with expert instruction and guidance every time you train at the Club. 

Weightlifting training revolves around developing the skills and strength to perform the two Olympic lifts – the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk.
 

With regular training and qualified Coaching, Weightlifters of all ages can enjoy a range of competition experiences, starting off with local Club competitions and moving on to larger Open competitions and Championship events.

Competitions provide great opportunities for Weightlifters to set and achieve their own Personal Goals, as well as compete with others of the same age, size and gender.

The Queensland Weightlifting Association provides a full competition program and participation in most of these events is open to all members.
